What Am I Up To?
I receive many kind words of appreciation about SotoSoundz music from fans worldwide. One of the comments made relative to my music is that it has a vibe, is mood evoking and sets the stage for positive feeling and imagery…all of which is what I hope as an artist to achieve. I hope to give each listener a gift, a message, a moment of pleasure & peace, where they forget anything negative & stressful and maybe reconnect with their calmness they’ve lost touch with.
With that being said, I am currently tracking new SotoSoundz material and really excited about it. As it is following in the new “mind altering music vibe” sound direction SotoSoundz is growing into and I think you will find it very interesting….wait and see!

Excitement & new opportunities surrounds 2008. SotoSoundz has plans in the works for another productive year! Each year the goals and opportunities that have presented themselves or that we’ve gone after are accomplished. Plans for 2008 include recording tracks for a new “mind altering music vibe” release. Increased exposure in new and expansive avenues. New photos and opportunities for you our fans to interact with SotoSoundz. Plus an array of unforeseen goodies to share!
A recap on 2007 accomplishments included podcast interviews & music features. The August opening of our new Amazon.com store where you can get our CDs beautifully jewel cased & shrink wrapped including booklets with photos and lyrics! Amazon sells our complete non DRM album downloads as well. The March release of the “Right To Fight” video filmed in Brighton England. The January release of the EP “SNAP!”. October, November & December hundreds of new friends & fans! It was quite a year as there were many challenges and some adversities that required the best battle gear in my arsenal to get through! But, true to form – it was like being “a steed of thunder riding through it all undefeated”!
Thank you to all the new friends that have now become fans! Your words of appreciation really matter. You are truly a source of pride, inspiration and joy for an artist!

I received a message from
a supportive fan inquiring about the show I did recently. It's always a pleasant
surprise when you guys write! Anyway, I decided to give her a full update as to
what I'm up to these days. I figured it would be a good idea to put it out as a
blog as well. Here goes.....
At present I've begun working on my new recording studio and also started
recording some tracks for a new song....so I'll be a bit busy for a while as I'm
looking to get started on a new album.
But, I will post all relevant bulletins & blogs about any new developments that
come up in the meantime.

March 19, 2007 Just a quick bit of news! While I'm presently here in the UK...I will begin filming a new video at Scream Studios in Brighton, this week for the song "Right To Fight" off the new CD "SNAP!" I hope to have it ready for viewing online before the 1st of April...Stay tuned! :)
October 10, 2006 Karen Sotomayor has just finished recording tracks for a new SotoSoundz release that should be out in early 2007! "This may well be the first of a mini series of releases. These tunes sit right together very well and I felt that they should be released that way." She is excited about the new material as it is a continuation of her evolvement as a Singer/Songwriter/Musician, as she sings & plays everything once again - also demonstrating her prowess as Executive Producer. In the planning is a new video to coincide with the release. "These new songs are sure to please any music lover who thinks outside the box!" Karen added.
September 25, 2006 Most of you may know that I was nominated for "Artist Of The Year" by Makato.org last February. Well, today with great surprise I was noticed that I had indeed won! Makato has been a big supporter of my artistry for over 3 years now and it is with great appreciation that I accept their prestigious acknowledgement award of "Artist Of The Year 2006-2007!" Thank you Makato!
Yesterday Aug.9.2006, we launched our cool new colorful website make over that features an edited sound clip of the guitar laden song “As The Sun” from our new release “Your Game!” streaming from the home page, a new photo gallery slide show, the “Situation Opportunist” video from our first record “Octopus Head” and easy navigation making it user friendly even if you’re still running Win 98!

KAREN'S COMMENTARY
May 22, 2007 Every month I look forward to my "Circle of Nations" e-newsletter by: John Two-Hawks. Not only have I found his words of wisdom cleansing, comforting and a source of strength many times, but his native flute music has sent me much comfort in connecting with nature and the true inner peace we all can have. His singing voice has placed him as one of my favorites - the power and range is beautifully melodic, a true gift! Peggy's contributions to the news letter have also given me wise words at the right time - here is a quote from her May issue - may you all embrace it! "It is time in 2007 to come to grips with the fact that it is not good to try to control other people, to impose our will upon their cultures and their values. It must start with each one of us as individuals, thru prayer, thru understanding, thru peace...we can change the world. It is not too late".

Sept.16.06 Hi all! I got back Tuesday from my Chicago trip and I finally caught up yesterday on hundreds of emails and various other tasks needing my attention. So, now I can share some of the trip highlights with you. Got into O'Hare on Thursday. It was great to be back in my "city by the shore". There's lots to do at anytime of the day or night. The weather was great. My old neighborhoods survived any demolition under the guise of progress...thank God! Ate at my fav. Greek restaurant and walk along the shore of my childhood beach, Montrose Beach. Friday night, danced my butt of at NEO, a club I used to frequent, still the same and spins the best techno/industrial dance music! Got back to the suite about 5am (like back in the day). Next day was Saturday and TV Dave was kind enough to put me on the Unearth guest list at the Congress Theatre, where he filmed their live show & interview. After the show we all hung out in the tour bus talking "BS" and having a shot or 2. Nice group of guys. Back to the suite at 4am. Sunday was filming day for my host spot. Did 3 outfit shoots and messed up my lines a few times but I think it turned good.. It'll be a few months before it airs. Beside the 9/11 fiasco with flight delays on Monday - I arrived home safe & sound Tuesday mid morning. More stuff in the works to be shared with all of you very soon!
Aug.10.06 - With evil trying to grip the world in fear once again…My wish for you is a sense of peace, hope and centeredness in knowing who you are always in all ways! As God is my witness.
